Do you need a car in Milan?

A car is useful in Milan for reaching the lakes at Como, Iseo and Maggiore, the Franciacorta vineyards and the Alpine valleys behind them, especially with several stops in a day or with luggage.

If your plans stay inside the centre, compare driving with the metro, city buses and the airport rail link; the ZTL, paid parking and summer traffic can outweigh the benefit of a rental.
