Tivat and Podgorica both hand cars over either at a desk in the terminal or at an office just outside it reached on foot or by a short shuttle. Which one applies to your booking is written on the voucher, and the walk is usually what explains a lower price.

Have your passport, licence, voucher and the main driver's card for the deposit ready before you reach the desk, and photograph the bodywork, glass and wheels during the joint inspection.

If the trip crosses into Croatia or Albania, confirm the written permission and the green card at the desk — the barrier is not the place to discover they are missing.

Rental with cash payment

Paying in cash at handover is normal with Montenegrin local suppliers, and because the country uses the euro there is no exchange to think about.

Ask whether the deposit is also taken in cash and how it is returned, and keep the receipt until the money is back in your hands.
