Do you need a car in Crete?

A car is useful in Crete for destinations such as the palace at Knossos, the Lasithi plateau windmills, the south-coast beach at Matala and the wine villages around Archanes, especially with several stops in a day or with luggage.

If your plans stay close to the hotel and the beach, compare driving with the coast road bus, hotel transfers and short taxi rides; summer traffic, paid parking and the ferry timetable can outweigh the benefit of a rental.

Car rental conditions
